and all the Lord's people said...

I am, at this very moment, blogging on my porch. It is slightly barren, dusty, and in need of a potted plant or two, but that will come later. What really matters is...

IT'S FINALLY SPRING!

Can I hear an AMEN?!

Spring Things

It has been bright, beautiful, and over 60 degrees here for the past two days!

Hallelujah!

The birds are chirping, the snow is melting, my husband is vacuuming (!), and I am on the prowl for some fun new things for my wardrobe... What is it about Spring that makes me feel like I need to overhaul my entire closet?

Well, maybe not overhaul it completely. More like, add a few, bright, fun new things.

Like this scarf:

It's from Wal-Mart! It was $5.00. They also had them in a lovely shade of blue-green, and in white. I love the little "pom-pom" details, it almost looks like something you could find at Anthropologie. I don't usually look for those kinds of things at Wal-Mart, but I have noticed that their scarves are really cute and really cheap!

And also? Some dress shorts.

These were on clearance at Gap and my sister made me buy them! Well, maybe I let her talk me into it. I've been seeing these all over the place, and I think I am ready to give them a try.

I have long been an admirer of this girl's little on-the-side fashion blog, and I love how she is wearing them here:

What about you? Are you feeling the need to find some fun new things to spice up your wardrobe? What's the one thing you are looking for this Spring?

letter to March

Dear March,

First of all, welcome.

I would like to remind you that last year, you toyed with our emotions rather frequently.

You would let the sun shine one day, and then heap piles of snow on us the next.

It's just not nice.

If you want to stay, fine. But please make up your mind!

I have enough to deal with, without your constantly fluctuating atmospheric emotions.

Signed,

A friend

it's gonna be a bright, sunshiny day

Today it was 40 degrees outside. I saw children running around with short sleeves while their parents smiled on. Hello, first glimpses of Spring. While I was at work today, I got a call from an employee in Texas.

He said, "Is it freezing up there?"

I immediately responded, "No, it's sooo warm! It's 40 degrees!"

He laughed at me.

On a side note, the flowers from my Hubby have lasted since Valentines day. I have played around with them and made a few different arrangements as they go through their various stages of, well, dying.

I think this is my favorite one.

P.S. The fabric is vintage, from my wonderful Grandma Bertie. I am still trying to decide how to best utilize it! Maybe another decorative pillow?
