Yellow Walls

I haven't posted any pictures of our yellow hallway yet because I was still searching for the perfect artwork to compliment the golden-yellow walls.

Here is what it looked like before:

And now with the new yellow walls:

For the artwork, I ended up using some vintage postcards we had leftover from our wedding. We used them as seating cards, and we ended up having quite a few left over.

I had several dollar-store frames laying around, so I spray-painted them white. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out so well because I am lazy and generally try to spray paint things without sanding them first (not a good idea).

So, instead of mourning the lack of perfection I decided to go with it. I grabbed a sheet of sandpaper and roughed up the edges of the frames for a more weathered look.

I'm happy with how it turned out. Want to know a secret? I hung the frames with poster putty and masking tape. Shh, don't tell my hubby!

  1. ha! Your secret cracked me up! When I rented a house in grad school, I had to think of many "creative" was to hang things, I used lots of command adhesive strips and scotch tape. I really like the yellow walls, they are always so warm and cheerful!

  2. the walls are so vibrant. :) i really like them better.

  3. just joined your blog this minute and already I love it!

  4. Ooh- command adhesive! I should try using that sometime!

Thanks for the nice comments, ladies! I definintely recommend using yellow in decorating, it's such a cheery color!

  5. Love the yellow walls! And those vintage post cards look GREAT!! I'm totally LOL about the putty--that so sounds like something I would do : )

  6. Yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one Joye! It works fine and saves me the time and pain of pounding holes in the walls...
