Yellow Walls

I haven't posted any pictures of our yellow hallway yet because I was still searching for the perfect artwork to compliment the golden-yellow walls.

Here is what it looked like before:

And now with the new yellow walls:

For the artwork, I ended up using some vintage postcards we had leftover from our wedding. We used them as seating cards, and we ended up having quite a few left over.

I had several dollar-store frames laying around, so I spray-painted them white. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out so well because I am lazy and generally try to spray paint things without sanding them first (not a good idea).

So, instead of mourning the lack of perfection I decided to go with it. I grabbed a sheet of sandpaper and roughed up the edges of the frames for a more weathered look.

I'm happy with how it turned out. Want to know a secret? I hung the frames with poster putty and masking tape. Shh, don't tell my hubby!

  1. ha! Your secret cracked me up! When I rented a house in grad school, I had to think of many "creative" was to hang things, I used lots of command adhesive strips and scotch tape. I really like the yellow walls, they are always so warm and cheerful!

  6. Yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one Joye! It works fine and saves me the time and pain of pounding holes in the walls...
