Christmas Is Not About Gifts...

Christmas is definitely NOT about the gifts.

That being said, the truth-teller in me must admit that I squeal like a five year old at the sight of a prettily-wrapped package. And this year, I think some people must have read my mind to find the perfect gifts.

Like these lovelies from my sweet Hubby:

1-year subscriptions to 3 of my favorite magazines. I am already picturing myself in a cutting/pasting frenzy creating my very own inspiration file for decorating purposes. Be still my heart.

Also, my beloved got me this (and very slyly opened it to the page with the delicious cinnamon rolls, hint hint):

All of my well-laid healthy-eating plans just crumbled at the sight of this cookbook. Seriously, I would totally sign up to be a sweaty, chaps-wearing, dirt-smothered ranch hand if I could eat this kind of food every day. Sigh.

My aunt and uncle took me to Paris a while back and we have really fond memories of that vacation together, so for Christmas they got me...

I already tried a couple of things, and let me tell you, I felt like I had been transported back to Paris all over again! My sweet uncle (who is a wine connoisseur, unlike me) also gave me a bottle of Cote Rotie (red wine) to pair with the delicious French food. Isn't that a thoughtful gift?

So, what fun things did you get for Christmas this year? I would love to hear some of your favorites!

Note: I was not compensated in any way for mentioning these products. I just talk about stuff that I like here, and these are things that get a definite stamp of "Me Likey!"

  1. Looks like there will be lots of cooking your future!! Barefoot Contessa is my sis-in-law's favorite cookbook series. She gave me one of her cookbook's last year and I have yet to be disappointed in any of her (delicious!) recipes.

  2. Yes, there is sure to be LOTS of cooking. =) Glad to hear that you have tried some of her recipes too! I agree, from the 2 that I tried yesterday I think it's a great investment.

  3. I got a ton of makeup, I even wrote a facebook note about it, lol. My most favorite makeup item that I got was probably Makeup Forever's makeup setting spray, so excited about that! Oh and I did love the NYX Jazz Runway eyeshadow palette I got too.

  4. good stuff, tho i'm still stuck on the whole "went to paris with my aunt and uncle" thing. i got a jewelry mirror storage thing, always welcome giftcards, and a coffee grinder.

  5. oooooh I love magazine subscriptions too! Real Simple is my fav

  6. Mag subscriptions and cookbooks make me giddy too! So fun! Can't wait to see how they inspire ya! <3

  7. Miss cape on the corner- haha, I suppose it does sound rather crazy! It was the trip of a lifetime, that's for sure. =)

Sounds like everyone got some really fun gifts!

  8. You're in MN? Me too! Me too!! It's so cool meeting a fellow MN blogger!

    Happy Thursday Darling! xo

If you're interested, I'm doing a perfume giveaway at my blog!

  9. Oh, and have you added your city to Location Central yet? It's where you see who blogs by you. All us (Super Cool) MN bloggers are on there!! ;-)

  10. we tried out PW cinnamon rolls at Christmas (my sis got the book too). They were delish!! It's an unsual recipe and it seems like it's going to flop but they turned out great!

  11. Hi Jen! Cool! It's always fun to meet bloggers from the same area! I will have to check that out for sure.

Ashley, I'm so glad you mentioned that! I didn't really look at the recipe, but I had a different recipe for cinnamon rolls that totally flopped a while ago and I've been afraid to make them ever since! It's good to know that PW's recipe will work, definitely helps me feel more confident!

  12. Oooh, I've been getting good housekeeping for a few months now, and I get so excited when it comes in the mail. Usually I get magazines from the library so it's really nice to be able to cut the recipes and things right out!

Cheers from a fellow MN blogger!

  13. Meri, that's so great! I really love being able to cut and paste too, it's nice to have something to refer back to when you want to!

Thanks for finding me, hope you have a fabulous New Year!
