Livin' it Up, 90's style!
Last weekend, Josh and I attended a late 80's/early 90's dance party. Wowza. It was a lot of fun (even though I couldn't participate in the dancing so much), and I don't remember ever having hair that big.
I used a 3 barrel curling iron, an entire can (travel sized) of extra-strong-hold hairspray, and plenty of ratting to get my hair back to the 90's rocker chick look. By the time we got to the party though, my hair had flattened. I said to Josh "My hair just isn't big enough!" Then, I had a moment of silence as I realized that that was how women who lived through that era felt all the time. Never enough hairspray, never enough height to their crimped bangs. What a tragedy. Thankfully, my sister Elsie came to the rescue and brought my hair back to 90's glory.
Josh though- he really rocked the look. He wore his leather biker jacket, plaid shirt, aviators, converse sneakers and a leather half-glove. His hair stayed big all night! Not fair.
Have you ever revisited a decade that you lived through? It's funny to think that in the early 90's I was still in grade school and wearing as many neon colors as possible every day. I do remember wishing I could wear the ginormous hairdos of the day. The older women all seemed so glamorous with their gold bangles, hoop earrings, and gigantic hair... Speaking of glamour, Glamour Shots were all the rage back then. Did you ever get a Glamour Shot of yourself?

How fun! I think your hair looks great! I am so behind on reading my blogs but am going to go catch up with you now. I was thinking of you the other day, hope you are feeling great!
ReplyDeleteAm I dating myself if I say I think Josh looks like a total hottie in that getup? I also think you look great, though I lean more towards men in leather than women with big 80's hair. :) And I think your hair is plenty big. Though this did remind me of when I used to spray my bangs hardcore to get them into a tall wave straight off my forehead. Remember that fad?
ReplyDeleteahhh you kids are so flipping cute!!!!! I LOVE how your hair turned out!!!! I rocked a killer side pony... a farrah fawcett-esque feathered shag... and even a mia-style [think pulp fiction!] bob... which I'm contemplating going back to ;) Never went the glamour shot route tho!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, those ridiculous glamour shots. never had them. this is making me lol, b/c i used to be so envious of my cousin's ginormous bangs. they were like half up, half down, with that fan curved thing? oh my god. killer.
ReplyDeleteThis is just too funny! I'm loving the look on BOTH of you! And the polaroid pics totally add to the effect! I gotta say I always admired the glamor shots from the decade. Sadly, I never got one of my own...
